With a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Madras University in 1980, H.M.Sultan Mohideen's journey into the fascinating world of Gems and Jewellery, started with a holiday trip to Sri Lanka.
As the son of a Timber Merchant, this fascination soon grew to a strong passion. Further, to pursue this as a career, he went on to complete a 1 year Diploma program in Gems from the Gemstone Artisan Training school at Jaipur run by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (an apex body of the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India and was awarded a Merit Certificate for Ranking First. He started his career as a Lapidarist (Gem Cutter).
In 1983, Sultan returned from the USA, completing his Graduation in Gemology (G.G), a retail management and creative jewellery display program from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) at Los Angeles.
In 1983, he was elected as a Fellow of the Gemological Association of Great Britain (F.G.A) London.
He is a Central Govt. approved valuer since 1997. A Fellow of the Forum of Indian Gemologist. He is a consultant to many Gemological and Gem Mining Companies and teaches Gemology and Jewellery Designing.
Served as an executive committee member of the Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association since 2000, he was unanimously elected as its Honorary Secretary in 2009. He is an executive committee member of the Gold Club of Chennai.
Completing his Professional Education in Gem cutting from Jaipur, Gemological and Management Programs from USA and UK, Sultan returned to Chennai to start a small business in Natural Gems and Fine Jewellery on the Principles that INTEGRITY AND EXCELLENCE would always be the standard by which we operate.
