Who we are - The duo behind the brand.

Mr. Sultan, a Bachelor of Science graduate, holds a Diploma in Gems from the Gemstone Artisan Training School in Jaipur, run by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. He ranked first in his class and received a Merit Certificate. In 1984, he completed his Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) program from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Los Angeles, which also included training in retail management and creative jewellery display. The following year, he was elected a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (F.G.A), London. He has been a Central Government-approved valuer since 1997.

Mr. Sultan is also a Fellow of the Forum of Indian Gemologists, a consultant to several gemological and gem mining companies, and teaches gemology and jewellery design. A long-time member of the Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association (MJDMA), he was elected as its Vice President 
A member of Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) ,
He was elected as a Director of the All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council   (GJC)in 2025.

After completing his Bachelor of Science, Yasir earned his Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma in 2006 from the prestigious Robert Mouawad Campus of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), California. He further specialized in Jewellery Designing, CAD, wax moulding, and casting, graduating with a degree in Applied Jewelry Arts from GIA.

In 2008, he joined the IGC Group NV—a century-old DTC Sightholder company in Antwerp, Belgium—where he gained hands-on experience across departments including diamond grading, assorting, quality control, and eventually managing the company’s Indian sales operations. In 2013, Yasir returned to Chennai to take over as CEO of Sultan Gems & Fine Jewellery.
